Chess in the
county of peace
"Gens una sumus"
("We are one family"-
Slogan of the international chess federation)
Historical responsibility led County Supervisor Dr. Georg
Wojak within the framework of Upper Austria’s motto-counties to proclaim the
county of Braunau as “County of Peace”. The chess open Braunau therefore
adopted a symbol for a peaceful cooperation of nations and generations. Chess
players of within our home country and those from foreign countries have the
opportunity to become acquainted with the town and county of Braunau and to
make new friends during the open.
Braunau am Inn offers several additional attractions
for visitors: The picture perfect scenery of the city center dating from the
middle ages invites you for a leisurely stroll and the considerable bargains
entice you with shopping excursions. Sport enthusiasts will love the numerous
opportunities for leisure activities and many restaurants and bars ensnare you
with their culinary pleasures.
This year we are going to play in a main tournament and a youth tournament U14, where much chess is offered - with a 1 hour time-limited double round, there is no chance for boredom and the main awards include valuable coins.
We cordially invite you to the Braunau Open 2013 and wish
you an exciting chess week in the County of Peace - Braunau am Inn!
